     The readers' poll shows that San Diego is becoming a destination for outdoor weddings.  Think of how nice it would be the feel the warm wind in your hair or your bare feet in the beach sand.

San Diego's Gaslamp quarter is a short drive from Coronado Beach.  With a name like McCarthy, my choice would be the Field, a turn of the century Irish pub shipped literally piece by piece from Ireland.

Located at 544 Fifth Avenue between Market Street and Island Avenue, happy hour starts at the Field when the doors open and continues to 7pm on Monday through Friday and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Pull up a stool and order a pint of Guinness.  You'll soon feel like you're back in old Ireland.

The food is authentic Irish from their corned beef and cabbage to the shepherd's pie.  The combo platter, a sampler of their appetizers, is enough for two.

Come for drinks and snacks. Stay until they close.  The Field in San Diego's Gaslamp is a perfect selection for your celebration of your beach wedding ceremony.  There's a little Irish in all of us!

The other day we took our greyhound, Millie to Coronado Dog Beach.  On the way in, she kept to the scant ground covering to protect her feet against the hot sand.  Once we got to the surf, she was fine.  She scampered around in the water.

When we headed back, I picked up my sandals and walked bare foot with Millie.  It was my turn to find out how hot the sand was away from the water.  I skipped and jumped until I joined Millie in the ground covering.

A beach is a fun, casual place to have your wedding ceremony but you can't walk gracefully on a beach in heels.  You'll struggle through the sand and probably end up ruining your shoes.

Sandals or flip flops work best, especially during the day when the sand can be hot.  When you get near the water, you can kick them off and get married in your bare feet.

If you think bare feet is a little au natural, you can dress up your feet with ankle bracelets or any other foot jewelry.

The nice thing about a beach wedding in San Diego is that you can wear whatever you want on your feet.  The important thing is to have fun, be relaxed and enjoy your day.
